Builder in Residence

I embed with founding teams to build, ship product, and gtm. 4–12 weeks, in the work, not on the sidelines.

This isn't a fractional consultancy thing. This is a builder who's done this before, embedded in your team, focused on the work that actually moves your business forward. Someone that executes.

Who this is for

Founders and teams who know where they're going but can't get there fast enough. Who have a product that needs to exist but no one to drive it home. Who want to use AI but don't know where it actually matters. Who are tired of building in a silo with no one to push back honestly.

What changes

The thing that's been stuck finally ships. Your team moves faster because someone is carrying the load with you, not pointing at it from the outside. The decisions get sharper because there's someone in the room who's made them before.

How we work together

Focused engagements, typically 4–12 weeks. In the daily work — product, marketing, execution, hard calls. When it ends, you're not dependent on me. You're further ahead and you know why.

What are you building?

Let's see if we're a good fit for each other.

What does "Builder in Residence" actually mean?
It means I embed directly with your team for a focused engagement — typically 4 to 12 weeks. I'm not advising from the sidelines. I'm in the daily work: building product, shipping features, making hard calls alongside you.
How is this different from hiring a fractional CMO or consultant?
Consultants deliver decks. I deliver shipped product. The difference is I actually do the work — product development, go-to-market, positioning, design — not just tell you what to do. When the engagement ends, things are built, not just planned.
What stage of company do you typically work with?
Early stage, 0 to 1. Founders who have a strong vision but need someone to help bring it to life. Pre-seed through Series A is the sweet spot, but the real qualifier is urgency — you have something that needs to exist and you need help making it real.
What does a typical engagement look like?
It varies, but usually 1–2 days per week over 4–12 weeks. We start with a scoping call to figure out where the biggest leverage is, then I get to work. Could be shipping a product, launching a go-to-market motion, setting up systems — depends on what you need most.
Do you work with more than one team at a time?
Yes — up to two teams at a time. This keeps the work focused and ensures each team gets real attention, not scraps. If I'm at capacity, I'll let you know and we can plan for the next opening.
How does pricing work?
Monthly retainer, sometimes combined with equity or revenue share depending on the engagement. Scope and pricing are set upfront after a scoping call so there are no surprises. Deposits are required to kick off.
How do you decide who to work with?
Values alignment comes first. I work with founders who care about how things are made, not just what ships. If the mission resonates, the gut feel is right, and we both see mutual upside — it's a go. If it's not a hell yes, it's a no.
Where are you based? Do you work remotely?
Based in Vancouver. All engagements are remote — I've worked with teams across North America, Europe, and Asia. Timezone overlap matters more than location.
